This is our wine debut, and the only varietal we produced in 2003. This is a single-vineyard Cabernet; 100% Santa Cruz Mountains AVA fruit. This wine spent 26 months in new oak barrels — 50% New French Mercier and 50% New American Radoux. The two lots were then blended together and bottled in December of 2005, unfined and unfiltered. This wine has no hard edges and a good, full body. Zippy white peppercorns dance around aromas of ripe cassis and black cherries. The extended time in new oak has added a layer of spice-infused wood and a wisp of smoke. It should age gracefully for a number of years. |
