2013 Port, St. Amant Vineyard, Amador

This is a traditional port – heavily influenced by Tinta Nacional and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), but also contains Tinta Francisca, Tinta Cao, Bastardo, and Souzao.  But traditional doesn’t have to mean boring!  It opens with a lush fruitiness, with rich flavors of dried berry and plum compote, with just a dash of cola.  The finish is long and smooth, reminiscent of silky chocolate mousse.
